REVIEW: TWO BLUR GUYS

(Disclaimer: this is not a sponsored post)

A guilty pleasure for most of us, is a lazy-greasy sandwich we call a burger. We found just the place to satisfy any burger needs one should have - Two Blur Guys. However do not be blurred by their name, their burgers hold some bold flavours, so much in fact, it is enough to make you forget the yellow arches.

Located about 5 minutes walk from Farrer Park MRT (NE8) and Bendemeer MRT (DT23), along a strip of shop-houses.

Location: 387 Jalan Besar, Singapore 209002

Opening hours: 1130 to 2230 daily, closed on Tuesday

Jalan Besar is no stranger to bistros and bars. In fact they are so densely populated here, it is easy to miss this place.

Two Blur Guys is however, not one to be overlooked, serving up tasty food that can be paired perfectly with their selection of house pours and spirits. Chill vibes reverberate throughout the burger joint, with an array of board games and books to amuse while you eat and/or drink.

They even have their own hydroponics farm in their backyard where they grow mint and basil leaves for their cocktails. Talk about sustainability.

Price Ratings: $$

Expect damage: ~$30* per pax

There is no need to break a bank for a good burger. The quality you would get from Two Blur Guys is sure to exceed the costs for it.

*this is estimated without the addition of alcoholic beverages.

Here's what we ordered:

1. Streaky Bacon Burger | $16.90

Yes, it is true, nothing can go wrong when you add bacon. This was a beautiful medley of meat that causes a firework of flavours on your palate. Let the meat juices coat your taste buds and allow them to leave a lasting impression long after you swallow. Best eaten medium rare.

2. Grilled Chicken w Pineapple Burger | $14.90

Umami and sweet, this perfect combination is exactly why pineapples should be removed from pizzas, they belonged to burgers instead. A thick chunk of thigh meat bathed in teriyaki paired with a slice of roasted pineapple. Multi-dimensional flavours, this is one that cannot be skipped.

3. Pulled Pork Burger | $14.90

Hours of work had been put into this before it was plated. Relishing the slow-cooked piggy strips unlocked some memories of sukiyaki, but this time packed between two buns. A melted Gruyère blankets the streaky texture of the pulled pork, making it much more succulent and accentuating both element's tang. A big star on the menu.

4. Truffle Egg Burger | $16.90

The truffle flavour has been all the craze in cafes. This one boasts the signature burger with an addition of a truffle flavoured sunny side up, surmounting to yet another depth to taste in one bite. It keeps us wondering, how did they get their egg to be truffle flavoured? When we had it, the egg was a bit well done, if the yolk ran with the meat juices, we think it would make a tastier mess.

Taste ratings: 4.5/5

Some signature collections are just unable to compare to what you get here.

Add $2.90 to your burger and you get a side of thick cut fries + vinaigrette salad. Add another dollar and you get truffle fries. This means a hearty meal awaits at a value cost of $3.90! Do not hold back the buck.

If you like juicy patties and satiable bites, skip the chains and enjoy quality fast food here. We assure mouth-watering goodness down to the last bite, you may even crawl back wanting more. I know I have to go back there. An array of delicious contenders are listed in the menu, the burger heaven awaits!
